GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TREATMENT Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) deposition is undoubtedly
the most recent and interesting new development in the field of PECVD
processes (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition), as this
technology can obtain deposits of amorphous carbon with characteristics
similar to a diamond. Deposition is performed inside a vacuum chamber
where a gas is delivered, ionised and then brought to the plasma state.
In this state, the gas interacts with the surface of the articles placed
in the chamber, depositing a layer of amorphous carbon. |

COATING DISTRIBUTION AND CHARACTERISTICS |
The coatings are black, well-adhering and uniform in thickness, with excellent reproduction of the surface to be coated. Coating thicknesses up to 10 µm. |
||||||||
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS |
The coatings also feature optimal chemical resistance (resists alkalis, acids and solvents) and high thermal conductivity. |
||||||||
REACTION TO CORROSION | Very compact and low chemical reactivity coatings offer optimal resistance to corrosion.
COMPATIBLE MATERIALS | Steels, heat treated steels, titanium and aluminium alloys, ceramics, electrolytic chrome, electrolytic nickel, chemical nickel, super alloys etc.
APPLICATION IN TEXTILE FIELD | In the textile field, the use of DLC coatings (e.g. reeds for high speed looms) is not widespread also due to the relative high costs with respect to other traditional coatings. The constant interest and relative development of this technology is however leading to a reduction in costs, thus enabling an increase in use, with the relative benefits of this application. |
